Abstract:

Upper echelon perspective is one of the most important perspectives for understanding how firms do what they do. As an organizational behavior researcher stumbling into upper echelon research, Amy has some successes and many failures in publishing on CEO humility. In this talk, Amy will first discuss the evolution and latest trends of upper echelon research; she will then share her recent work that validates an obtrusive measure of CEO humility and studies its effect on improving bias-prone firm decision making. She hopes to receive suggestions to overcome the challenges on this project and encourage colleagues who encounter failures yet persevere on their research passion.
