Lingnan University (LU) is a liberal arts university in Hong Kong with the longest established tradition among the local institutions of higher education. The University’s history dates back to 1888, when the forerunner, the Christian College in China, was founded in Guangzhou, and to 1967, when the institution, as Lingnan College, was re-established in Hong Kong and renamed Lingnan University in 1999. As a top liberal arts university with a long history in Asia, Lingnan University is continuously committed to the delivery of quality, whole-person education service to both undergraduate and postgraduate students. The University consists of three faculties, among which the Faculty of Business plays an important role in educating students about cutting-edge, practical knowledge and skills, improving students’ academic and professional capabilities, as well as enhancing students’ awareness on social responsibilities. Furthermore, we have been devoting every effort to the sustainable development of Lingnan University in the academic community and the substantive realization of our values and mission in the Hong Kong society and the world.

The Faculty of Business plays an important role in educating students about cutting-edge, practical knowledge and skills, improving students’ academic and professional capabilities, as well as enhancing students’ awareness on social responsibilities. The faculty is an AACSB-accredited one comprised of five departments: (i) Accountancy, (ii) Computing and Decision Sciences, (iii) Finance and Insurance, (iv) Management, and (v) Marketing and International Business. In addition, the Faculty is operating the Hong Kong Institute of Business Studies (HKIBS) and Institute of Insurance and Risk Management (IIRM). We are offering undergraduate ((i) Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) (BBA), (ii) Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) – Risk and Insurance Management (BBA-RIM) and (iii) LEO Dr David P. Chan Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Data Science (BSc-Data Science)), research postgraduate (RPg; MPhil and Ph.D.), and taught (self-financed) postgraduate (TPg) programmes. The BBA streams include (i) Accounting, (ii) e-Business, (iii) Finance, (iv) Human Resource Management and (v) Marketing. The TPg programmes involve (i) Doctor of Business Administration in Global Digital Economy and Governance, (ii) Master of Accountancy, (iii) Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Artificial Intelligence and Business Analytics, (iv) M.Sc. in Business Innovation and Entrepreneurship, (v) M.Sc. in eBusiness and Supply Chain Management, (vi) M.Sc. in Finance; (vii) M.Sc. in Human Resource Management and Organizational Behaviour, (viii) M.Sc. in Marketing and International Business and (ix) M.Sc. in Risk and Insurance Management.

The Faculty of Business aims at continuous improvements of our academic level and education service in the liberal arts setting. Research excellence is always an important item in our development agenda. The faculty members in business have participated in many high-quality research activities. They have published a number of papers in top academic journals. In addition to long-term partnerships with Hong Kong local universities, our faculty and researchers have established collaborations with considerable external faculties and researchers in Europe, Mainland China, North America, and other areas. We are continuing with expansion of our collaborations to make more research contributions. This is also of great help to refreshing our faculty members’ knowledges and expertise, thereby acting as an essential prerequisite of achieving our commitment to high teaching quality.


The Department of Management is dedicated to human resource management and entrepreneurship education. Staff members are very committed to meeting the needs of students, developing close relationships with students, and helping students succeed.

The Department equips students with solid academic and professional preparation for careers in human resource and related functions as well as an entrepreneurial mindset. To contribute to the Liberal Arts mission of the University, the Department incorporates service-learning activities and community projects into its courses. These experiences provide students with opportunities to develop and practice leadership and to make a difference.

Faculty members of the Department pursue research excellence. They have developed and published a noteworthy number of quality research articles in leading management journals in the areas of organizational behaviour, human resource management, and entrepreneurship. Colleagues of Lingnan University welcome researchers, practitioners, and organizations in the world to initiate research and programme collaborations with us.
