Call for Applications

Application Deadline: 11:59PM, March 31st, 2025 Beijing Time

  1. Overview and Purpose

The Micro-Track Junior Faculty Consortium is a new initiative organized as part of the biannual conference of the International Association for Chinese Management Research (IACMR). It is designed to support the professional development of junior faculty in micro fields such as Organizational Behavior (OB) and Human Resource Management (HRM). This consortium provides a developmental forum where participants can interact with peers and senior scholars, gaining valuable insights into navigating the early stage of their academic careers. The consortium will cover critical topics such as publishing strategies, managing work-life balance, effective teaching practices, and building a research agenda. By creating a supportive and engaging environment, the consortium aims to equip junior faculty with the tools and networks needed to thrive in their careers.

The discussants and facilitators for this consortium are highly accomplished scholars in the field. They include individuals with extensive publication records in top-tier journals, serving as editors or associate editors for leading academic journals, recipients of career awards in OBHRM-related fields, and experienced educators who have designed and delivered impactful courses at leading institutions. The final list of discussants and facilitators will be announced as the conference date approaches.

2. Main Content of the Consortium

The consortium will include a combination of panel discussions and round-table interactive sessions. The main content areas are as follows:

  • Panel Discussion 1: Navigating the Early Career Stage (30 minutes)
Senior scholars will share their experiences and strategies for success in academia. The panel will provide practical tips for effectively managing teaching, research, and service responsibilities while maintaining a balanced and fulfilling early career.
  • Panel Discussion 2: Developing a Research Stream (30 minutes)
This panel will feature senior faculty members who have successfully developed impactful and cohesive research streams. They will share insights into identifying meaningful research questions, building a research agenda that aligns with academic and industry trends, and maintaining depth and consistency in their work. Attendees will gain practical strategies for maximizing their scholarly impact and advancing their academic careers.
  • Editor Panel: Mastering the Review Process (45 minutes)
Editors from leading journals in OB and HRM will offer advice on effectively navigating the review process. This session will cover best practices for manuscript submission, responding to reviewer comments, and improving the chances of acceptance. Editors will also share tips on maintaining positive relationships with journals and reviewers, as well as constructive approaches to handling rejections.
  • Facilitated Roundtable Sessions: Research, Teaching, Service, Life, and Networking (45 minutes)
Participants will engage in small-group discussions led by senior faculty members. Each table will focus on a specific theme: research strategies, teaching excellence, or professional networking.
