The workshop was held successfully with the support of our sponsors
and well received by more than 100 participants from 16 universities from
the Mainland and Taiwan. We sincerely thank our sponsors for their support,
the faculty advisors for their involvement and dedication. And, we thank
all the participants for their active participations and their passion to learn!

WORKSHOP PARTICIPANT NOMINATION CRITERIA:  

a) Students entering year 2 or 3 of their doctoral studies

b) Faculty members who supervise doctoral students

c) English proficiency in reading, speaking, and writing

d) A one-page resume summarizing education, work, and research experiences

e) A one-page statement of research interests and tentative dissertation topic

Note:  Participation in this workshop is by invitation to universities. Please contact Prof. Xiao-Ping Chen for any question about participation in this workshop.

WORKSHOP FACULTY LEADERS

Eleven international scholars with experience of working with doctoral students will serve as faculty leaders/advisors.  Each faculty member will give one 1.5 hour lecture and lead a group of ten participants (8 students and 2 doctoral advisors) in developing research proposals. The groups will be formed on the basis of common research interests.

Weather

The average temperature ranges from 30 to 35 degree Celsius during mid July in Guangzhou. Sunny during daytime and high humidity. Since its coastal location, weather in Guangzhou is sometimes unstable with occasional thunderstorms and lightning. A raincoat or umbrella is advised.
